Big Loop is a Vekoma sit-down roller coaster located at Heide Park in Sotau, Lower Saxony, Germany. Opened in 1983, it was the first coaster to be built at the park.

DesignEdit

Elements

Vertical Loop
Vertical Loop
Double Corkscrew

Big Loop has a simple layout, with 4 inversions and a helix.

TrainsEdit

6 cars per train. Riders are arranged 2 across in 2 rows for a total of 24 riders per train.

Big Loop originally used trains built by Arrow Dynamics. For the 2010 season, these were replaced with trains from the defunct Corkscrew at Alton Towers in Staffordshire, England.

Ride experienceEdit

After turning right out of the station, the train climbs the chain lift hill. Riders are then dropped into back-to-back loops, and a banked right-turn around. Then a double corkscrew follows, leading into the mid-course brake run. Then, a helix to the right follows, eventually leading back to the station.

ConfusionEdit

Big Loop is often mistaken to be much bigger than it really is, this is because a larger Vekoma SLC with the same colour scheme stands behind it.
