Formula Rossa is an Intamin launched roller coaster located at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It was originally set to open on October 28, 2010, but that date was delayed until November 4, 2010. Formula Rossa is the fastest roller coaster in the world at 149.1 mph (240 KPH). Riders will be required to wear protective glasses due to the high speeds and occurrence of sand storms in Abu Dhabi.[1] Because of problems with the wheels and the high amount of friction, trim brakes were added to the first hill in order to reduce the ride's overall speed. The ride is supposed to imitate a Formula 1 Race in a Ferrari.
