Zydeco Scream is a steel sit-down roller coaster located at Six Flags New Orleans, New Orleans, Louisiana.[1] Opened under the same name at Jazzland, it has been closed since Hurricane Katrina hit the park in 2005 and is currently standing but not operating.

Design[]

Elements

Zydeco Scream is an example of the much copied Boomerang. The train is pulled up the first spike, and released through the inversions. The train is then caught and launched backwards through inversions. It is then caught and brought slowly back to the station.

History[]

  • The ride first opened in 1990 as Boomerang at Parc de Montjuic. It left the park in 1998. It was painted white with green supports.[2]
  • The ride was relocated to Six Flags New Orleans (or Jazzland at the time), were it opened on the 10/8/2000 as Zydeco Scream. It was repainted aqua blue with purple supports.
  • Hurricane Katrina hit the park in 2005 and Zydeco Scream was flooded. It has been standing but not operating ever since and is now highly unlikely that it will ever operate again.
