The Flash: Vertical Velocity is an Intamin AG launched inverted roller coaster located at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California. It was the 2nd Maglev launched roller coaster the first being California Screamin' which opened a few months earlier When it first opened in 2001, it was 186 ft tall and both sides of the track were vertical. Interestingly, in 2002, the ride was temporarily closed while the track was modified from 186 feet to the city ordinance limit of 150 feet. To lower the height, the front tower was tilted to a 45-degree angle and the reverse tower lowered to 150 feet. For the 2007 season, V2 was repainted red with maroon supports. In 2019, the coaster was rethemed to the DC Comics character, The Flash.
