Walking Dead: The Ride (formerly known as X and X: No Way Out) is a Vekoma indoor roller coaster located at Thorpe Park in Surrey, England. The original ride was marketed as the "world's first backwards roller coaster in the dark." It was themed around the idea of 'being trapped in a computer virus'.

History[]

The ride had several modifications for the 2007 season, including improved queue line lighting, new video and sound effects, and a new control cabin. However, the queue line video ceased playing after a year and the television screens are now switched off. In 2010, X:\ No Way Out intermittently operated with the safety lights turned on, meaning the ride was sometimes ran with the interior of the building being visible.

2013 Retheme[]

In 2013 the aging roller coaster, X:\ No Way Out, received a major retheme turning the ride into X "ride on a wave of light and sound". As part of the retheme the trains were turned forwards. As well as that strobe lights were added into the ride building and dance music. The queue and station was also repainted with some lights added to the queue. The height limit was also lowered from 1.4m to 1m.

2018 Retheme[]

In 2018 the ride got rethemed into Walking Dead Series.
